About

My original designs are framed by a professional framer to a high standard and quality.  The frames and mounts are chosen to complement the batik picture.  I use cotton fabric and am experimenting with a range of organic cottons and calico.  I use procion cold water reactive dyes which have proved to be extremely colourfast, I am also experimenting with natural dyes.  When I can I use beeswax obtained direct from beekeepers - in the summer when I am working with windows open bees fly in to investigate!

I exhibit and sell original batiks in a number of locations in Cumbria, as you will see from the Exhibitions page.  I am sure you will enjoy visiting these venues.
The Exhibitions page now also includes information about Batik Workshop dates and venues.  The Workshop days have proved to be relaxed, friendly and creative. No previous experience or drawing skills are required. You will learn how to make a wax resist on fabric and mix a range of colourful dyes to create your own unique design.
The work in progress page gives you an idea of how an image is created using batik techniques.

I sell copies of my work, as cards, prints and giclee print stretch canvas.
